Big Apple Strat Schematic
Dennis Duncan sent in this schematic of a Fender Big Apple Strat. Thanks Dennis! Dennis didn't mention what switch is used but a quick glance at the schematic indicates that any of the true 5-position, 4-pole switches like the Yamaha (available from StewMac) or the Oak double-wafer switch (available from WD) or AllParts part number EP078 should work. I've also been told that Fender markets a 5-position, 4-pole switch as the "Super Strat" switch. However, Fender dealers that I've asked for this switch have tried to sell me an ordinary 5-position, 2-pole Strat switch. ("Oh, yeah, that's for the Super Strat, that switch is used in every Stratocaster, blah, blah, I don't know my backside from my elbow...")
I haven't built this and can't vouch for the accuracy of the schematic but I did give it a quick "QA" and it looks okay.
One thing that I find a bit curious is the use of the 250k pot for the bridge pickup tone pot. If anything, it would seem to make more sense to put the lower value pot on the neck pickup. If I were to build this I would use 500k pots throughout.
