Schematics of Factory Models

This section contains schematics of various guitars as the manufacturer made them.  These are not "factory schematics," most of these were drawn by folks who own the guitars.  I've given the schematics a quick once-over looking for obvious problems but in most cases I haven't built these and can't vouch for them.  Also keep in mind that it isn't unusual for manufacturers to change the wiring without notice.

Stock Gibson-style wiring.

This is how basic Les Paul and many other Gibson guitars are wired. This diagram will work for any guitar that uses two pickups with individual tone and volume controls and a three-way selector switch.

"Stock" Stratocaster wiring.

This is how most "standard" Stratocasters are wired. This diagram will work for any Stratocaster style guitar that uses three single-coil (or untapped humbucking) pickups and a five-way selector switch, two tone controls, and a single volume control. Also see the article in the theory section on identifying switch contacts.

The "Big Apple" Strat.

Dennis Duncan sent in this schematic of the Fender "Big Apple" Strat.  Two humbuckers.  No middle pickup.  The pickup combinations are noted on the schematic.  Thanks Dennis!
