Non-Artist's Rendering of Strat™ Wiring


The drawings below are very simplified drawings and are not to scale. Note that there is quite a bit of variation in Stratocaster "innards;" some have switches that are shaped differently with the terminals in different places, some have smaller pots, the color codes on the wires vary, and so on.

Note: Make sure the pot bodies (shells) are grounded to the foil via the shaft. I've never seen one that isn't, but there is a first time for everything especially as the manufacturers start using cheaper and cheaper components. In the event you find a pot that doesn't have a grounded shell, simply move the tremelo wire and output jack wire shield to ring terminals under the pots.
